Doula Services

AS A DOULA I,

  • Accept that death and dying are a normal part of life and show up wholeheartedly and will be present.

  • Provide non-medical, nonjudgmental, and compassionate emotional and spiritual support.

  • Have a foundational knowledge of symptoms associated with terminal illness, the physiology of death, and non-medical techniques for alleviating suffering.

  • Cultivate inner calm and peacefulness, even in the face of chaos and intensity.

  • Provide guided imagery to aide in symptom relief and promote emotional wellness.

  • Promote informed consent and assist with helpful documents.

  • Create a plan for a meaningful remaining life and a purposeful, peaceful death.

  • Assist with information gathering and connecting clients to beneficial resources.

  • Hold space for clients to process the deep and purposeful work of resolving issues, telling stories, conducting a life review, and/or creating a legacy project.

  • Provide non-medical respite care for caregivers.

  • Trust in the inherent wisdom of each person to decide and discover their own best path.

  • Will serve as a companion rather than treat or lead.

  • Empower and encourage a client’s friends and family members to operate within their comfort zones and to fill in support gaps as they arise.

  • Feel comfortable sitting vigil and respectfully assisting in afterdeath care as directed by the client and the family.

  • Promote a continued presence for family members, when requested, during the initial grief and bereavement time and provide grief processing.

*Disclaimer- All services provided are non-medical care and medical care is still needed despite hiring a doula.
